Welcome to Intercultural Bridges: Forum for Mentors and Befrienders (4m4MB). We are a space where volunteer mentors and befrienders working across cultures can share their experiences and ideas and pick-up new ones to promote and support mutual adaptation and participation. Globalisation is bringing changes to our communities requiring everyone to adapt to the changes it brings. The more we understand this the more everyone can benefit from diversity advantage.
We care about promoting integration as a two-way process and creating a place where everyone has a sense of belonging and equal participation. As volunteers and practitioners we want to promote, strengthen, and support our roles to best help refugees and migrants integrate. Through intergroup contact we hope to break down barriers such as inequality, discrimination, prejudice and xenophobia and be facilitators of trust, understanding, and respect.
This blog site aims to be a resource to share our experiences, questions, challenges, successes, ideas and best practices and build evidence supporting the contributions our roles make.
